49er Gear Guide Equipment Chosen by Olympic sailors

The 49er is the fastest dinghy on the Olympic circuit. The sailors who race it demand gear that performs under extreme load, at high speed, without compromise. This is what we use.

Harnesses

AIRY & Helium Pro — Light Wind

Best for: Soft to medium breeze, constant body movement.

Minimal profile, maximum range of motion. The 49er never stops demanding movement — these harnesses stay out of your way when it matters most.

The H — Strong Wind

Best for: Full power, sustained hiking, heavy air.

Stiffer support for when you're deep on the wire and the boat is at its limit. Engineered to push to the maximum the class rules allow.

Aerocleat — 8 Versions

Co-designed by Olympic sailors. 3D-printed. The cleat the market didn't have.

  • Materials: Titanium or Aluminium
  • Handle options: Handleless / 25mm / 30mm / 35mm

Eight versions. One is right for you.

Low Friction Rings

Less weight, less friction — everywhere in the rig where a full block is overkill.

Available: 3.5mm to 29mm · 5 colours

Tiller Extension

The 49er demands fast, precise steering — especially downwind at speed. A light, well-balanced extension reduces fatigue and keeps feedback direct.

SLEEVE — Block Protection

Keeps every line running clean. Printed in flexible TPU, it stops ropes catching on blocks without adding weight or damaging the rig.

LOOPS

Low-friction, low-weight connection points throughout the rig.

Available in: Inox · Titanium Grade 2 · Titanium Grade 5

Footstraps

Two options depending on your preference:

  • 49er Footstraps — designed specifically for the class, optimised for the 49er deck layout
  • CUBEN Footstraps — ultra-light Cuben fiber for barefoot or minimalist sailing

Everything here is designed and tested by Olympic sailors. If it's on this page, it's because we actually use it.
